What's up with Pinterest?
...Except for the fact that it's a relative new social media channel, still, used by over 1,5 million unique vistors every day... "Part of Pinterest’s appeal is that it’s beautiful", says blog author Beth Hayden. It truly is, with all those collages of images, ready to be seen on any screen.
So what is that your really do on this network? Well, you see images. Basically, yes. Depending on your interests, you can choose to view architecture, technology, street arts or even cooking pictures from a variety of Pinterest pages. Which you can later pin and keep on your main account. Like, email and share them anytime you want. Look at them again and call friends to see them too. To pin and see some more. And that's about it.
A happy place where you can see images that you like. Feels overwhelmingly positive. "I think of Pinterest as Facebook without the whining", thinks Beth Hayden. Well put.
I think of Pinterest as the best part of Facebook – the photos.

Thinking about adding Pinterest to your marketing mix? Here are the top 7 reasons why you should take action :
1.It shares well. Facebook and Twitter accounts can be linked in for sharing Pinterest news. You can also use your other channel's data to gather followers . Pinterest lets users login with their Facebook and twitter accounts and post automatically to Facebook's time-line.
2.Permits easy access to the owner's site. This year Pinterest drove more traffic to websites than organicYahoo and still continues to increase its influence in site visiting.
3.It's proven to keep users connected longer – for about 1h and 17 minutes for an average visit.
4. Shoppers from Pinterest are thought to more likely spend money then other shoppers coming from Facebook and Twitter ( an average 10% more). Users follow 9.43 retailers ( compared to 6.9 on Facebook and 8.3 on Twitter).
5.Can pin blog posts and videos – options which are not highly at the moment.
6. Clicking on images will direct users to the site from which the photo has been uploaded.
7. Holds the third place in channel popularity and referral traffic after Twitter and Facebook ( 2012)
Its users are mainly women ( above 80% in June 2012), although 50% of the accounts are adults between 23 and 54 years old with kids.
Despite all the enthusiasm behind advertising on Pinterest there must be some truth that drives many marketers to pin.
Have your say!
